WADC 2025: A live-streamed hybrid conference for swimmers, coaches and scientists

The World Aquatic Development Conference (WADC) 2025 has successfully concluded, leaving attendees inspired, motivated, informed, and ready to tackle the challenges of being a swim coach, trainer, or professional swimmer. Held in Lund, Sweden, this year’s event brought together over 350 participants from around the globe, along with virtual attendees who joined via Invajo’s Virtual Platform. The conference continued its tradition of fostering meaningful conversations and groundbreaking ideas within the swimming community.

Inspiring keynote speakers
This year’s keynote speakers included, among others, Greg Louganis, who shared his insights as the greatest diver in history, and Jim Pawelczyk, the American physiology and kinesiology researcher who flew aboard NASA's STS-90 Space Shuttle mission. Their perspectives captivated the audience and sparked engaging discussions throughout the conference.

Groundbreaking Research Presentations
With three dedicated learning tracks—Learn to Swim, Competitive Swimming, and Diving—the conference offered a wide variety of speakers to share their expertise. By streaming every session online, WADC 2025 also ensured that the knowledge reached a wider audience, including those unable to attend in person.
The diversity and depth of the research underscored the innovative and inclusive spirit of the swimming community.

Networking Opportunities
The conference’s networking opportunities proved invaluable for attendees. From vibrant conference dinners to focused workshops, participants departed with meaningful connections and promising prospects for future collaboration.

Invajo Beyond

Invajo Beyond was an essential tool for the organizer both before and during the conference. Its powerful schedule-builder kept the website and app consistently up-to-date, streamlining the organizer's workflow by consolidating updates into one place e.g. while updating speaker names and bios, moderators, exhibitors, and participants.

Invajo Connect, our virtual platform, ensured seamless streaming of all the live-sessions during the conference. Onsite participants also utilized the platform to submit written questions to the speakers and answer polls, enhancing engagement and interactivity.

Following the success of our live-streaming debut in 2023, we raised the bar this year with a professional three-camera setup in the main theater and simultaneous streaming from three rooms to cover our learning tracks. Once again, we partnered with Invajo, whose amazing platform and impressive customer support exceeded our expectations.

The WADC team thrives on a hands-on approach, and the platform’s intuitive interface proved invaluable - not only during the planning process and simplifying schedule creation but also in empowering our volunteers to confidently manage the video stream production across parallel sessions.

A special thank you to
Fredrik Hansson from Invajo, whose expert guidance ensured a smooth start of the event and seamless collaboration. Together, we delivered an outstanding experience that resonated with both our onsite and virtual attendees.
